STOVE AND FIREPLACE INSTALLATION

WE DO IT ALL, FROM HEARTH TO COWL

A fireplace should be a thing of beauty, providing a room’s focal point as well as a safe source of warmth. We are specialists and know from experience that every job is different. There is no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to fireplaces and stove installations. And because we are a small business, we concentrate on one customer’s installation at a time, completing the entire job before moving on to the next.

Designing a fire surround and installing a fireplace or stove that is right for you and your home requires a combination of craftsmanship and technical know-how. Unlike other companies who simply install stoves, we work with clients to create bespoke fire suites that will be admired for years to come.  The photographs on this website are just a few examples of what we can do. With the exception of the video on the home page, all the photographs you see are of our own work.

Although we install stoves, we don’t sell them. But before you go in search of a firm offering a ‘one-stop shop’, let us explain why we think concentrating on the installation side of the business is a good thing for our customers:

    • We can recommend the stoves which will best suit you and your home, not the ones we have in stock or which are the most profitable.
    • Many of our customers like to buy off the internet to get the widest choice and the best possible price.
    • We keep our costs low by not having a showroom and sales staff.

Qualified to do the job

As well as having many years’ experience, our company is registered with HETAS, the official body that approves solid fuel domestic heating appliances, fuels and services. Becoming a HETAS-approved installer involves training and regular inspections of our work. This ensures we give you:
• Unbiased, informed advice
• Peace of mind, knowing your stove installation will be carried out to a safe and professional standard
• A stove installation which complies with building regulations and manufacturers’ instructions

Don’t just take our word for it. See the HETAS website for the benefits of using an approved company to do your work.

Contact us before you buy your stove

We offer a full survey and installation service, including:
• Advice on the size and type of stove best suited to you and your home.
• Examination of your existing fireplace. Some older homes have beautiful fireplaces and inglenooks hidden behind plaster and more recent ‘home improvements’, just waiting to be revealed and restored. We don’t have x-ray vision but we know what signs to look for.
• Design of fire surround, hearth, mantel, etc.
• A visual check of your chimney, including the stack and pot. (A closer inspection will be made once work starts and we have access to your roof.)

Did you know?

Some woodburning and multifuel stoves aren’t just space heaters but can also provide hot water and heat radiators. And even if you don’t have an existing chimney you could probably have a woodburning or multifuel stove fitted.  An insulated steel flue – known as a twin wall flue – remains cool on its exterior so it can safely run from a free-standing stove and pass through a wall or ceiling to the outside of the property.  Free-standing stoves have become very popular, especially in more modern homes, but they suit most settings.

A typical stove installation consists of:

• Opening up the existing fireplace and creation of a new one or restoration of a recovered original structure.
• Sweeping and inspection of the chimney, clearing any blockages and carrying out necessary remedial work to the stack (read why chimneys are important)
• Lining the chimney with a flexible 904-grade stainless steel liner. This is able to withstand the high temperatures that woodburning and multifuel stoves can generate, and prevents seepage of smoke and tar back into the building. See our Chimney Works page for pictures of a chimney being lined.
• Supply and fitting of all parts and accessories, such as adaptors to connect the stove to the chimney lining, and suitable cowls.
• Installation of your woodburning or multifuel stove.
• Fire-testing the installation and a demonstration of how to get the best from your stove.
• Supply and fitting of a CO (carbon monoxide) detector.
• Certification that the installation has been carried out by a HETAS-registered competent person, to satisfy local authorities, insurers, and buyers in the event of the property being sold.

After-sales service

Forgive us for blowing our own trumpet, but because we are experts at what we do, our customers seldom have problems with our stove installations. However, if they do, or they need advice about operating their stoves, we’re always available to help. Customer service is very important to us, which is why we are one of the longest-established stove installation companies in the region.
